legs, legs, legs

Some fashion/shoe advertising in the studio. It took 1 hour to set up the lights! The background was white so a lot of the colour I had directed at it, reflected off. That was incredibly annoying, and confusing to figure out. Towards the end though, finally decided to use a "snoot" on the light - which concentrates the light at one certain point - on the shoes but ran out of time (studio can only be booked for 3 hours).

oh! also i used the nikon d200 believing it may have nicer, finer grain than my d60. I didn't notice any difference. I love all the d200's short cuts and what not but it is confusing and verrryy heavy. I wouldn't mind reshooting these and experimenting with a few other colour combinations as well as poses.

City Skating

So sleepy right now so I'll keep this brief...
We went skateboarding in the other day intending to experiement with flash but the sun came out for golden hour (luckily!!) and so we just mucked around, it was so much fun! Not many photos with the new 28mm Vivitar lens - don't feel comfortable with the wide angle yet.
I really liked the location though, and I think I'll definitely go there again another time.
These aren't all the shots, I'll be uploading the "troll files" onto facebook perhaps, for the lols

city shoot

My personal favourites of the day. There's a lot more but the styles vary so much i'll save them for another post. These were taken at St. James station. Didn't stay there too long because I was worried about being ushered along like at Central. The dude was really nice about it and only told us not to take photos of the station but I'm a chicken. :/

Will be taking more self portraits on Wednesday in the studio, fiddling with the lights for the first time :) and perhaps another "vintage" shoot soon after. Woop Woop

lolita

This series was supposed to be about fashion. So i set out at 8pm, found a cool empty parking lot... and got carried away. I'm happy with some of the photos but i wouldn't say they fit with fashion, dammit! But gosh i love parking garages, and all things urban. My mum kept remarking on how much i look like a doll so i was thinking of some photo series where i get "left" around in random places as children always lose their toys. Or a story on Lolita... but more on that later. Perhaps i should start a lookbook with this dress haha

  

 

With these last three I'm just amazed at how awesome editing in raw is! The lighting was completely orange and i just slided the colour bar right to blue and it neutralized the photos! I loved how shiny everything was after it rained, lights reflecting off everything. It was so lovely i wanted to take some photos with it. Even though they're pretty random... Also many people driving past and walking past had to stare :/ but it really wasn't so bad. Got to do what you got to do.

I totally forgot about the blue lights in this block of flats. That would be so rad.

Marylin dancing in the rain and some self portraits

My edits are a bit odd with these. I did them all in cold tones, then played around too much and decided i like it better with more yellow mid tones. Seeing them together i prefer the blue mid tones but it's too late to change them, i should be heading to bed. Thankfully i'm learning colour this semester so colour correction should be easier soon :D 

So these are just test shots, playing with "spot" and "unnatural" colour as well as some complimentary colour for my face. The compositions aren't exactly ideal, was a bit hard to get the angles i wanted with the tripod and i didn't have enough time to experiment and get them right. self portraits are hard :/ I also decided to test myself with overcast, flat lighting, went better than i expected. 

I wish i caught a photo that clearly shows all the rain falling. I also had a "Marilyn" moment from all the wind :O but no one was around ;)
